Critical Cooling Service Engineer

Permanent

£44,000 - £50,000

We’re recruiting for a Service Engineer to support critical cooling systems across the South East, working directly for a global manufacturer in the data centre and mission-critical space. This is a field-based role focused on planned and reactive service work across high-spec environments, with strong technical backing, manufacturer training, and a sensible callout structure.

The Role

You’ll be responsible for maintaining and fault-finding on precision cooling equipment across data centres, telecoms sites, and specialist commercial facilities. The work is predominantly service and maintenance, with involvement in diagnostics, controls support, and occasional commissioning assistance. Sites are well-managed, expectations are realistic, and engineers are properly supported from a technical and logistical standpoint.

The role includes a low-frequency callout rota and regular paid overtime, with door-to-door travel paid.

Key Responsibilities

  • Service and maintenance of DX air conditioning systems, including VRV/VRF
  • Fault-finding on precision cooling and close control units
  • Working on chilled water systems where experience allows
  • Electrical and controls diagnostics, including interface with BMS where required
  • Completing service reports and condition assessments
  • Supporting commissioning and technical investigations when needed

What They’re Looking For

Proven experience as a Service Engineer within commercial HVAC
Strong background in VRV/VRF or DX systems
F-Gas certification
Comfortable working in critical or sensitive environments
Full UK driving licence

Experience with chillers, close control, or data centre cooling is beneficial but not essential – training is available.

Package

£44,000 – £50,000 basic salary depending on experience
Door-to-door travel paid at time and a half
25 days holiday plus bank holidays
Callout rota circa 1 in 8-10 with paid standby and minimum call payments
Overtime readily available
Company vehicle (private use), fuel card, tools, PPE, phone, tablet
8% employer pension contribution
Long-term manufacturer training and progression

Next Steps

If you’re an engineer who wants better support, proper training, and work that’s technically interesting without being chaotic, this is worth a conversation. Send over a CV in whatever format you have – it doesn’t need to be polished.
