This policy explains what personal data Perigon Search collects, why, what we do with it and your rights under UK data protection law.

Perigon Search Ltd is a permanent recruitment business. We’re the data controller for the personal data we hold about candidates, clients and people who use this website.

2. What we collect
Candidates
- Name and contact details
- CV, work history, qualifications and skills
- Salary, notice period and what you’re looking for
- Notes from calls and interviews
- Records of our emails, calls and messages with you
Clients and prospective clients
- Name, job title and contact details
- Company details
- Details of the roles you’re hiring for
- Records of our contact with you
Website visitors
- Anything you send us through a form, including CVs
- Basic technical information needed to run the site, such as IP address and browser
- How you use the site, through analytics cookies (see section 13)
3. Where we get it
Mostly from you, when you apply, send a CV, call or email us. We also find candidates through job boards and professional networking sites, referrals and public sources such as company websites and professional profiles. If we get your details from someone other than you, we’ll tell you when we first contact you.
4. How we use it
Candidates: to talk to you about roles, match you to vacancies and, with your agreement, put you forward to clients and manage the process through to your start date. We’ll also keep in touch about roles that might suit you in future.
Clients: to understand what you need, send you candidates, manage our agreement and invoices, and keep in touch about our services.
You can tell us to stop contacting you at any time.
5. Our lawful basis
Mostly legitimate interests: running a recruitment business, which means connecting candidates with roles and helping clients fill them. We’ve weighed this against your interests, and you can object at any time.
We also rely on contract where we’re providing services to a client, legal obligation where we have to keep records by law, and consent where we’ve asked for it. You can withdraw consent at any time.
6. Sensitive information
We don’t ask for it. If you tell us about a health condition or disability, for example because you need an adjustment at interview, we’ll only use it for that and we’ll only share it with a client if you agree.
7. Software and AI
We use software, including AI tools, to help us search for candidates, summarise calls and notes, and assess CVs against a role. A person always makes the decisions about you, including whether you’re put forward for a role.
8. Call recording
We record some calls for training, quality and record-keeping. We’ll tell you before or at the start of a call if it’s being recorded.
9. Who we share it with
Clients: only once you’ve agreed to be put forward for a specific role.
Service providers: the companies that provide our recruitment software, email, phone systems, website analytics and job advertising. They only use your data on our instructions and under contracts that protect it.
Authorities: where the law requires it.
We never sell your data.
10. Transfers outside the UK
Some of our team work outside the UK and can access your data as part of their job. Some of our service providers are also based outside the UK. Where a service provider handles your data outside the UK, we use the safeguards UK law requires, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement.
11. How long we keep it
Candidates: up to six years from our last contact with you. Clients: up to six years from our last activity. You can ask us to delete your data sooner, unless we have to keep it by law.
12. Your rights
You can ask us to:
- give you a copy of your data
- correct it
- delete it
- restrict or stop using it
- send it to you or someone else in a portable format
You can also object to how we use it or withdraw consent. Email hello@perigonsearch.co.uk and we’ll reply within one month.
If you have a complaint about how we’ve handled your data, tell us first at hello@perigonsearch.co.uk and we’ll deal with it. If you’re still unhappy, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
13. Cookies
This site uses cookies it needs to work, and analytics cookies to count visits and see which pages people use, so we can improve the site. We don’t use the analytics to target advertising or build a profile of you. You can opt out of analytics cookies at any time using the link below.
14. Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data from loss, misuse and unauthorised access.
