Had enough of cat ladders and ten flights of stairs with a compressor?
Your knowledge doesn’t have to stay on the roof. You know what a remedial really involves, from what’s failed to what it takes to fix it properly. This role puts that to work at a desk.
No lugging kit, no plant rooms in January and no days spent on the motorway. You’ll be in the office once or twice a week and work from home for the rest.
What you’ll be doing
When an engineer finds a fault on a service visit, the remedial work comes to you. You read their report and find the part, or a current equivalent if the original’s no longer made. Then you price it, work out the labour and get the quote to the client within three to five working days.
You’ll be good at this because you’ve done the job. A pump change on a pressurised system means a degas, a regas and a pressure test. Estimators without an engineering background miss that. You won’t, and that’s why this team hires ex-engineers.
The work is compressor changes, controller swaps and pumps, not million-pound projects. It’s high volume, so if you like clearing a list and getting it right first time, you’ll enjoy it.
Who you’ll be working with
The company maintains critical air conditioning and chiller equipment, with more than 50 mobile engineers. Both estimators already in the team came off the tools after years in the field, so they know exactly what the move feels like. This is an extra hire as the client base grows.
The office is in Warmley, Bristol. Anywhere along the M4 towards Swindon works with the hybrid pattern.
What you’ll get
-
£45,000 base plus a £300 a month car allowance
-
Company bonus of 3-5% a year and a salary review every January
-
25 days holiday plus bank holidays, plus your birthday off
What you’ll need
You’ll have worked in HVAC, ideally as an AC or chiller service engineer, and you’ll be comfortable on a computer.
If your body’s telling you it’s time to come down off the roof, this is worth five minutes. Send whatever CV you’ve got, or just a few lines about what you’re doing now. Everyone gets a response.
